My Art

My art responds to modern day societyā€™s mass production and over-consumption of goods, our unquenchable thirst for more as well as the impact this has had on our environment, our communities, and our personal well-being. My art emotes the tension between my innate nature wanting calm and order and my lustful desire to scream and lash out with bold color palettes, rich textures, energy-infused drips, marks and strokes. I create my art with found or donated materials, which supports my desire for openness, curiosity and community.

When I start a new piece of art, it is often with a blank slate. If I do have an idea, there is no telling where it will eventually go. I trust the creative process.

Often during the process, an idea or image emerges and informs the remainder of the piece but I donā€™t look for or expect it. I find delight when someone sees one of my pieces and expresses how it makes them feel or what they see, which as I have discovered, is rarely what I see.

For me, art is the ideal medium to express what I feel, in whatever format I choose. The freedom to express my feelings. That is creativity. That is art.
